Detour Coffee Roasters
Featured in April 2012 Box
We like a little optimism in our morning coffee and this cup teams with it. These beans, hailing from Bufundu, Rwanda, are the product of 7,000 smallholder farmers working together under the leadership of one inspirational and enterprising woman. In 2003, Epiphanie Mukashyaka turned her family’s modest coffee farm into Buf Café and redefined the community around her. Her farmers hand-pick and hand-sort the coffee to ensure quality, and the flavors flourish under the thoughtful roasting of Ontario’s Detour Coffee. Aromas of brown sugar and coconut lead into a round, creamy cup with lime and apricot acidity, candy-like strawberry sweetness, and clean floral notes throughout.
Buy This CoffeeWe feature truly small-batch, seasonal coffees. So there might not be any left. But that's a good thing! Only big corporate factories have the same stuff all year round.
