Other coffees we think you'll like at a similar roast level.
We source seasonal coffees as fresh crops arrive in the US. Depending on the time of year, you can expect top lots from Ethiopia, Burundi, Colombia, Rwanda, Costa Rica, and beyond.
In order to source coffees at this level of quality, we work closely with a small group of importing partners who have traveled the world for years building relationships with farmers and coffee growing communities. We pay well above Fair Trade prices for our single origin coffees, which are very high quality and often available only in limited quantities.
Sampling
Our importing partners regularly provide us with small samples of the best lots. We "sample roast" dozens of coffees every month at our roasting facility. Then we evaluate each roast on the cupping table and pick our favorite candidates.
All the coffees we consider for our single origin offerings are clean, sweet, and free of defects. That's all necessary, but not enough. What we look for in these coffees is a distinctive character—that special something that makes us wake up the next morning excited to brew another cup.
Profiling
When we find a coffee we love in the sampling process, we purchase it immediately. The next challenge is determining how we'll roast it for you. The goal is to bring out each coffee's best expression of itself and its terroir. This process is called "profiling"—a mix of art and science.
We'll roast multiple small profile roasts of the coffee we purchased, trying different approaches to see what we can pull out of the bean. How can we emphasize the distinctive characteristics and deliciousness that made us decide to buy this coffee? That's the profiling challenge. To assess each profile, we brew each one multiple times to get to know it inside and out.
Production Roasting
We work very hard to replicate our chosen profile in each production roast. Our quality control process includes sampling every batch we roast, and we use technological tools to analyze each batch against our target profile. We tweak and adjust our single origins as needed to make sure they're always delicious.

We ship within days of roasting
Free shipping on fresh coffee: it's a no-brainer.
When will I get my first order?
When you place your order, there is a 5-business-day lead time before it ships. We're not just pulling bags of coffee off a shelf and boxing them up—we add your order to our roast queue, roast it fresh, bag it, seal it, and box it, then ship it to you.
If you want to make any changes to your subscription after your first delivery arrives, you can do so until 5 business days before the next shipment is scheduled. You'll receive an email notification before each order is processed.
How fresh will my coffee be?
Very fresh. We typically ship your coffee within days of roasting it. We roast your coffee specifically for you and heat-seal each bag to ensure your deliveries are as fresh as possible. On average, you will receive your coffee at your doorstep within about 5-7 days after we roasted it.
How much coffee is in each bag?
All of our standard coffees come in 12oz bags. If you select a 3-Roast Sampler, you can choose between 4oz bags (12oz total) or 12oz bags (36oz total).
Why can't I make a one-time purchase?
We pioneered the concept of the online coffee subscription, so we have years of experience with what works. Being able to plan ahead for your recurring coffee deliveries means we run much more efficiently. This saves us money, and we pass on those savings to you with low prices and free shipping.
If you're not ready to commit, consider trying a 3-Roast Sampler. These are available for one-time purchases with a small shipping fee.
Do you sell single-origin coffee?
Yes! We have various single origin offerings. One is our delicious dark roast Sumatra. Another popular option is our Roaster's Choice subscription, which offers a rotating selection of the world's most distinctive single-origins at various roast levels. There's a Roaster's Choice option for every preference—from dark and rich to light and bright—including an Exploration offering featuring adventurous fruit-forward light roasts. What kind of coffee do you sell?
We sell Craft Coffee brand coffee that we fresh-roast for you in small batches. Unlike stale grocery store coffee that can sit on shelves for months or longer, we ship your coffee just days after we roast it.
We source our coffee from key growing regions in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. All of our coffee is specialty-grade, 100% Arabica beans that we buy at Fair Trade prices or above. Our coffee experts have years of experience building relationships with coffee farmers and importers to source you the best quality beans available anywhere.
Unlike many grocery store brands, we don't believe in selling low-quality, unsustainable commodity-grade coffee. Industrial coffee companies use all kinds of tricks to cut their costs and sell you a lower quality product, and we don't believe in that either. One common practice is for commodity coffee companies to buy old "past crop" beans at big discounts because they are basically the leftovers that nobody wanted. Another trick is to mix in low-quality Robusta or beans with defects to trick you into buying a lower-quality product. We don't do any of that—and you will taste the difference.
Well, then how are you able to offer such low prices?
Fair question. We are an early innovator in selling coffee online—Fortune Magazine called us "the internet coffee company." It took years of refining our business model to get to the point where we can offer you exceptional coffee at such great prices.
What it comes down to is this: When you buy coffee on Amazon or at grocery stores, the coffee company sold its beans wholesale—you pay a retail markup. We cut out the middle man and sell to you directly online, and we pass along those savings to you. And when you order 4 or more 12oz bags at a time, we can take advantage of packaging and shipping efficiencies to offer a big discount on each order.
Can I change the coffee in my subscription after I sign up?
Yes. We think you’ll love the coffee we recommend for you. But if you want to try something different after your first delivery, you can make changes very easily in our subscription portal or talk to a real person in our office and we will make sure you find a coffee you love!
