Our Notes
Aromas of raisins, brown sugar and roses open into a cup dense with red grape acidity and lingering flavors of dark rum and cacao.

Carlos Aguilera Franceschi is a member of the third generation of Franceschi’s to tend his farm, and you can taste that legacy in this delightful and complex cup. Named after Carlos' grandmother (the farm's original owner), Finca Carmen produces some of the best coffee Panama has to offer. Roaster Shannon Neffendorf of Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters says Panamanian coffees are amongst his favorites right now, and this cup is a great example of why that’s the case. (In fact, this brew is so great its the first Panamanian coffee we have ever featured!) Carlos may be to the coffee born, but Shannon took a more circuitous path. Back in 2008, he left the corporate accounting world behind, rigged up a BBQ grill with a hand crank roaster, and started delivering his home-roasted beans like the neighborhood milk man. Since then, his coffees have become a Dallas institution, featured in many of Dallas' top restaurants, as well as in Shannon's custom-built European-style cafe. Ex-corporate life never tasted so good.
